10:45 – 12:15 Patient Videotape Demonstrating Schema Mode Work: Tracking modes; overcoming detachment; eliciting vulnerability; mode Imagery.
12:15 – 1:15 Lunch Break (on your own)
1:15 – 2:45 Theory and Goals of BPD Treatment: The concept of schema modes In explaining blocks to progress with severe disorders; conceptualizing the four borderline modes and outline of treatment objectives for each: the Detached Protector, Abandoned Child, Punitive Parent, and Angry Child modes.
2:45 – 3:00 Break
3:00 – 4:30 Overcoming the Detached Protector: Building the reparenting bond by reassuring & replacing the detached, depersonalized side.

9:00 – 10:30 Limited Reparenting for the Abandoned Child: Calming & healing the Abandoned Child through validation of feelings and nurturing.

10:45 – 12:15 Combating the Punitive Parent: Utilizing cognitive techniques to combat the critical, punishing voice.

1:15 – 2:45 Re-channeling the Angry Child/Setting Limits: Re-channeling anger into healthy assertion; interpersonal strategies for dealing with anger toward the therapist / guidelines for setting limits on therapy time, angry and abusive behavior, and missed sessions.

3:00 – 4:30 Special Problems with BPD: A hierarchy of steps for responding to suicidal and parasuicidal threats & behaviors/ overcoming common therapist pitfalls, including the therapist's own schemas.
