STIM has been developed to:


• provide training in schema therapy to professionals


• educate the general public and professionals about schema therapy


• provide help in locating certified schema therapists


• foster communication among individuals interested in schema therapy


• facilitate the development of schema therapy through research, writing and clinical innovations.


George Lockwood, Ph.D., is a Founding Fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, serves on the board of the International Society for Schema Therapy, and is certified in both cognitive therapy and schema therapy.

 

Dr. Lockwood has led workshops in schema therapy for over 15 years in both the United States and Europe. He consistently receives outstanding evaluations. Dr. Lockwood is a long time collaborator with Dr. Jeffrey Young, the founder of schema therapy, and has participated in the development of schema therapy over the past 27 years. He completed a post doctoral fellowship in cognitive therapy under the supervision of Aaron T. Beck in 1982 and has extensive training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and object-relations approaches. He has written a number of articles on cognitive and schema therapy, and was involved in the conception of “Schema Therapy: A Practitioners Guide”.
